AI Inferencing Solutions for Surveillance

Proven performance in surveillance

Surveillance using multiple sensors at the edge connected to AI-powered analytics has the ability to influence outcomes in a number of environments - retail, warehousing, logistics and entertainment. Leading organisations are leveraging AI to reduce shrinkage, improve forecasting, automate warehouse logistics, determine in-store promotions and real-time pricing, deliver personalized messages and recommendations to customers and deliver better experiences in stores, theatres, casinos and more.

Use Cases

Asset Protection

Retailers worldwide are losing billions per year to shrinkage, however the use of intelligent video analytics can accurately and efficiently reduce shrinkage. By improving asset protection at points-of-sale, reducing shoplifting throughout the store, and detecting burglary offenders, employees can work to stop loss in real time.

Store Analytics

In-store data generated from point-of-sale transactions, cameras, and sensors are rife with insights that help determine customer preferences. This data can provide demographics and create heat maps to reveal popular traffic areas inside stores. Furthermore, this data can be used to better understand customer behaviour and buying preferences, delivering real time personalised in-aisle promotions, to create enhanced shopping experiences.

Warehouse Operations

Store staff members are the face of retail organisations, so it makes sense to reduce the time they spend on tasks that aren’t customer facing, such as performing inventory counts or scanning for out-of-stock situations. Large retailers are using robotics to handle these basic, repetitive tasks. The technology can scan items to check stock levels, correct shelf location, and price accuracy, as well as sort items unloaded from trucks based on priority and department.

Ensuring Public Safety

Retail and entertainment spaces have had to rapidly shift to meet the needs of their customers—accommodating new purchasing behaviours, increased demand, and health safety needs. AI edge technology is driving innovation to keeps customers and employees safe by recognising social distancing, detecting elevated temperatures, and highlighting incorrect PPE instances.

AI Inferencing Solutions

Scan has partnered with Advantech and NVIDIA to bring to market a range of AI Edge Solutions for inferencing – the MIC series. Powered by the NVIDIA Jetson GPU series, these provide the performance of a GPU workstation in an embedded module. Featuring strict validation ensure thermal, mechanical, and electrical compatibility, plus industrial-grade anti-vibration, high temperature operation capabilities, and modular, compact-sized design, these are the perfect hardware platforms for medical imaging, microscope analysis and automated diagnostic applications.

The range includes various models designed for specific environments and tailored for particular inferencing workloads. Many are modular allowing expansion through the i-Module expansion chassis or the i-Door interface to add PCI slots, extra connectivity or control modules.
