Scan taking esports to the next level
Here at Scan we’ve always been passionate about gaming, most of our teammates are gamers and a few have even competed professionally. As early as 2005 Scan sponsored one of the world’s first esports organisations Team Dignitas, which included a wide variety of activities such as gaming events, YouTube content creation and digital and print advertising.
With the esports market expected to grow to £1 billion by the end of 2024 now is the perfect time for Scan to engage in new ways in this exciting space. Scan has enjoyed considerable success in gaming and esports providing 3XS gaming PCs to colleges, universities and game developers. We recently helped Franklin Sixth Form College in Grimsby outfit a dedicated esports suite enabling them to deliver a new range of courses. The esports suite is set up for live tournaments and competitions, allowing students to experience the excitement of competitive gaming and develop their skills in a real-world setting. This further supports collaboration and teamwork, facilitating group work and project-based learning, encouraging students to work together and build strong teamwork skills.

Scan is also planning to take part in multiple events in the second half of 2023 including participating at i71 gaming festival at the Birmingham NEC between 7th and 10th of September, an Intel Gamer Day on 23rd September at the Scan HQ in Bolton and the Bett show at ExCeL London between 24th and 26th January.
Scan is also delighted to announce that we’re re-engaging with an old friend, the esports industry veteran Michael O’Dell. Michael was one of founders of the esports organisation Team Dignitas in 2003. In 2019 he left to take the position of Managing Director at London Royal Ravens before transitioning to the team’s parent company ReKTGlobal in 2022 as its Chief Gaming Officer. As well as running these esports organisations Michael is also an advisory board member of the British Esports Federation.
Upon joining Scan as Director of Gaming and Esports Michael said ‘I’m thrilled to become part of the Scan Pro Gaming team, working with old friends and colleagues that I’ve known for so many years. I’ve been watching the amazing success Scan has had in esports, working with colleges and universities and industry-leaders such as NVIDIA and am looking forward to using my experience and connections to drive further growth and innovation in this sector that is very close to my heart.’
Scan has been a huge part of gaming and esports community for decades with our award-winning 3XS gaming PCs driving forward innovation. We’re now looking to become a key player, from colleges and universities through to tournaments at the highest level. We will be partnering with industry experts and key brands to drive the latest technologies, enabling the next-level of esports in the UK.
