Electro-Acoustic guitars are designed to have pick ups in the bridge and to be plugged into an amplifier. To this end they may have an onboard pre-amp to go with the pick-up, and some even have built in effects too.....

The 6 string Acoustic was first developed in 1779 and since then has been used by Singer/Songwriters, and fingerstyle players. It comes in many styles from Classical through to Dreadnought shaped. An acoustic guitar does not need an amplifier...

12 string guitars play the same as 6 string guitars. Beside each 'regular' string is another that is one octave higher. The combined effect of all the strings is a lovely 'full' sound used by many singer/songwriters to 'fill out' the sound.....

The bass guitar is the lowest-pitched member of the guitar family. A plucked string instrument, played with either a pick or fingers, the bass guitar is similar in appearance and construction to the electric guitar, but features a longer scale neck and is commonly found in either 4, 5 or 6 stringed variations.
