The Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter lets you connect Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 devices — such as external hard drives and Thunderbolt docks — to any of the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports on your MacBook Pro.


Bidirectional

As a bidirectional adapter, it can also connect new Thunderbolt 3 devices to a Mac with a Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2 port and macOS Sierra or later.


Supports Thunderbolt-Enabled Displays

In addition, it can be used to connect Thunderbolt-enabled displays — such as the Apple Thunderbolt Display and LG Thunderbolt 2 displays — to any of the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports on your MacBook Pro. However, using this adapter with an Apple Thunderbolt Display requires a power source, because the display does not provide power through the adapter.

Is this compatible with PCs running Windows10, or is it Mac only?

I have a laptop with Windows 10 and a USB-C / Thunderbolt-3 port and wanted to know if I would be able to use this product with it as it is a cheaper alternative to products such as the one from Startech.

Yes, it does support Windows 10. Although we do know people running these with success with various peripherals, there do seem to be some differences with compatibility between this and the Startech Adapter, which seems to be faultless so far in our testing. As an a example, Universal Audio are currently describing these as incompatible with their Apollo Audio interfaces on SOME windows 10 systems, but they all work perfectly with the Startech. So my best answer is that it "might" work!
